How to Capture Twitch and Kick Clips with the VodClip Extension

Streaming platforms were built for live viewing, not for rapid post-stream content creation. Scrubbing back and forth on a 6-hour Twitch VOD player to find a 20-second moment is clunky and slow.

The VodClip extension adds capture controls to supported Twitch and Kick pages. The local download workflow is separate from paid cloud AI processing.

What Does the Extension Do?

The extension can help you:

  1. Capture a moment: Use the on-player control or Alt + C on a supported Twitch or Kick player to open the side panel with the current timestamp.
  2. Download locally: Choose a supported clip, VOD, or timestamped segment. The extension handles the local download without consuming VodClip AI credits.
  3. Continue in VodClip: If you want AI highlights, sign in and explicitly submit an eligible source to cloud processing. Review the credit estimate and source-rights requirements first.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Step 1: Check beta access

Open the extension page for the current access instructions. During beta, a store install link may not be available to everyone. Only install a verified build from the official page.

Step 2: Open Any Stream or VOD

Navigate to a supported Twitch or Kick live stream or VOD. If the control is missing, reload the page and check that the extension is enabled for that site.

Step 3: Hit 'Clip Now' or Press Your Hotkey

When a highlight occurs, use the Clip control or Alt + C, then review the selected range in the side panel. Available capture options depend on the source and browser.

Step 4: Decide whether to use cloud AI

Local downloading is free. Cloud AI highlights and server rendering are separate actions that require an account and may use credits. If you continue to VodClip, review the source, estimate, captions, and crop in the web editor before exporting.

Privacy and troubleshooting

The extension needs browser permissions for supported sites and sign-in handoff. Do not assume every operation stays on your device: a cloud submit sends the chosen source to VodClip, and error reports can include source and diagnostic details. See the current privacy notice for specifics.

If a download stalls, check the queue in the side panel, retry the item once, and keep the visible error details for support. Use only media you have permission to capture and publish.
